Movie Review: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013)

What's the best way to have 100 minutes of your time magically disappear? Watch The Incredible Burt Wonderstone-- too bad I can't have those 100 minutes back.

Steve Carell plays the eponymous character and draws a lot from the past Will Ferrell satires, but leaves a bland performance that left me wondering why he was cast in the film (Wasn't Ferrell available?). The two other guys that drive the plot (Steve Buscemi and a new-look Jim Carrey) had too little screen time than they deserved.

I saw the potential of this film, given there are so many ways in poking fun at contemporary magical/illusion entertainment industry, but things didn't spark any major laughs. The personal transformation story was equally mediocre.

Like a rote magic trick, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is forgettable.
