Just when you thought Filipino mainstream movies are getting better, there comes a movie like Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi (Let's have a Wedding, Wedding Not) that massively takes a step back.
Top-billed by Eugene Domingo and Toni Gonzaga, the film is a comic take on the institution of marriage and weddings. Is the movie funny? If you're idea of humor is the one you see in sitcoms and noon-time variety shows, then you will have a belly-aching experience. Otherwise, the film is a huge "MEH" in the comedy department.
Even with the acting and comedy chops of Eugene Domingo (Ang Babae sa Septic Tank) the movie is dragged into annoying depths by Toni Gonzaga. Toni's acting was really annoying and I grew tired of that whole "babaeng bakla" (loud and tactless woman) shtick.
Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi reminds me of another wedding film that disappointed (Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo)-- it could have been one of the classics but took the wrong step.
Technorati: Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi
