Movie Review: RED (2010)

Even after a few days watching RED, the image of Helen Mirren spraying bullets with an automatic rifle and machine gun is still sticking in my mind.

As an action film, RED (Retired and Extremely Dangerous) is not your typical shoot-em up.Yes, there's the Helen Mirren as a cold-blooded MI-6 assassin part, but there's also the motley crew of Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, and John Malkovich as aging former black ops agents getting their groove back. Throw in a great dose of humor and romance (thanks to the lovable performance of Mary-Louise Parker), what you got is an romp of an action film.

I'm sure folks will love the whole Ocean's Thirteen meets Wanted vibe of the movie, but there will be a few nit-picky folks who won't forgive the dull moments in the middle parts. But the whole cross-America chase/adventure worked for me.

RED is a very enjoyable film that proves that aging folks can still kick major butt. Just ask the villains that got pwned by Helen Mirren.
