What is it about a film on a charming couple that doesn't have a clue about parenting that makes it watchable on-screen? In Life as We Know It, it's the irresistible chemistry between the characters played by Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel.
Holly (Heigl) is a pastry shop owner who longs for a stable relationship while Messer (Duhamel) is a motorcycle-riding TV director who strings women like beads in a necklace. As the two become the legal guardians of their best friends' baby after a bad turn of events, we see them transform from two people who can't stand each other into a family.
The story itself is pretty predictable with little dashes of comic moments. Moreover, the over-all plot is a little contrived but it's palatable nonetheless.
It's good to see Katherine Heigle bounce back to formidable rom-com form after the forgettable Killers. Life as We Know It is a solid date movie for the twenty-somethings and up.
