I''ll say this right off the bat: The second installment of the Twilight Saga is as exciting watching the moon change cycles.
But The Twilight Saga: New Moon should satisfy fans of the book series, and more because the movie added more eye candy in the form of Taylor Lautner as a buff Jacob Black, in addition to hotties Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Other than the star power of those three, "New Moon" is not for the casual movie-goer. If you ask me, this movie was solely created to please the fans of Stephanie Meyer's work.
There are really a lot of things that I don't like about "New Moon": first is the pace and the lack of energy of the story. Yes, there are new villains introduced, but the story is 80% the lackluster love triangle featuring Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob. Second is the acting (or the lack of) of the lead cast-- save for a few romantic scenes and professing of undying love, the the cast either whines or tries to look good on-screen. Finally, the movie's bleak backdrop doesn't do anything to liven the movie up.
Take this as a warning: The Twilight Saga: New Moon is a movie tailored for fans. If you have never read a page of the book or if you're not a fan of the lead stars, stay away. "New Moon" is a huge drop-off from the first movie if you ask me.
Rating: 1.5/5
