I caught the gala night of "The Mystery of Irma Vep" at the Mary Eugene Theater of the Assumption in Makati City last October 23, 2009. The comedy features Jon Santos and JV Katipunan under the direction of Ana Valdes-Lim.

The two actors play six different characters in this play known for its quick changes in character and setting. For this production of "Irma Vep," Jon Santos and JV Katipunan did a fine job in delighting the audience in the very intimate venue. I think folks looking for a comic theater experience will find the play enjoyable.

"The Mystery of Irma Vep" will run on Nov. 6 and 14 and Jan. 21, 22 and 23, 2010. Also, this play is staged in tandem with a lecture demonstration by Ana Valdes-Lim on "Rehearsal Techniques" for directors and teachers.
