Fox Wants to Block Watchmen

One of the film I'm excited about in 2009 is the adaptation of Alan Moore's classic graphic novel Watchmen. The trailer looks very loyal to the graphic novel and it seems director Zack Snyder retained the edginess of the comic. The film, as you can see from the movie poster, was slated to be released in March 6, 2009.

I gave emphasis on the "was" because the film is in a legal tug-of-war between Warner Bros. and Fox, where a judge recently ruled that Fox has copyright interest and even distribution rights to Watchmen since Fox bought rights to the film in the 1980's. The ruling states that Warner Bros. infringed on Fox's rights as copyright interest holder and rightful distributor. Warner Bros. has indicated that it will fight for Watchmen.

I really don't care who wins the legal battles here because the big losers are the viewing public and fans of Watchmen-- the film's March release is in jeopardy and a delay is highly likely. !@#$##%#&&^*!
