High School Musical franchise is the first one to hit be big screen but it sure knows what its audience wants and gives it to them in a nice, wholesome package.
The film may well be considered Zac Efron's vehicle to stardom-- he gets a lion's share of the movie's screen time as well as a great deal of the singing parts. While the film is considered an ensemble story for post-teen stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel and Corbin Bleu, Zac Efron simply steals the show, much to the delight of the pre-teen girls all over the world.
The music and dancing dominates the film that you'll think that story going on the movie is just a threat to connect the production numbers. The soundtrack is replete with ballads and love songs, but with a good dose of high energy numbers. There's no denying the entertainment value of the film, but at some point I felt I wanted a good break from the song and dances.
High School Musical 3 proves that the franchise has the legs to cross over from television into the movies, and I'm not doubtful that there will be a sequel to this movie.
