Movie Review: Eagle Eye (2008)

I've heard somewhere before that there's nothing original in Hollywood anymore. I guess the folks who said that were referring to movies like Eagle Eye.

But make no mistake, Eagle Eye is one movie that's easy to enjoy and timely, but somehow, I felt I've seen this movie before.

Here's a list of comparable movies most people liken to Eagle Eye: Enemy of the State, Minority Report, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Wall-E, North by Northwest, and the list could go longer.

Despite the adequate enjoyment factor of the film, plus the decent performances by leads Shia LeBeouf and Michelle Mohagnan, the movie fails to elicit the paranoia from the "perfect system" gone wrong. Heck, there were some moments in the movie that I just scratched my head in disbelief, even though the movie wants to show how extreme the situation can be.

I have little doubt that Eagle Eye will do well in the box office, but I'm pretty sure you will share the same feeling I had after watching it-- the feeling you've seen it somewhere before.
