Movie Review: The Game Plan

The Game Plan follows the tradition of Kindergarten Cop and, more recently, The Pacifier about the comic situations a tough, muscle-bound guys who is put in unfamiliar territory.

Having said that, that means there is really not much in The Game Plan you haven't seen before, but it tries to be innovative by mixing the sports genre and the "unfit" dad bit. Personally, I think the movie succeeds as a sports movie rather than as a dad comedy.

The movie stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the star quarterback Joe "The King" Kingman, who incidentally in the movie shares a nickname with Elvis Presley. His performance and his ability to be in comic situations and still be the musclehead really made the movie worthwhile. His over-the-top expressions would actually appeal to young kids.

On a final note, the movie relies to much on football terminologies and sports lingo that some people not familiar with it may not appreciate it. But the movie is good enough for family entertainment, which is expected from any Disney movie.
