Movie Review: The Bourne Ultimatum

Matt Damon is Jason Bourne for the last time as the Bourne trilogy concludes with The Bourne Ultimatum.

This third installment is perhaps the best crafted and best paced in the series and perhaps all the summer action movies this year. Only Die Hard 4.0 (Live Free or Die Hard) can compare to the scale of the action on The Bourne Ultimatum, but I have to give the edge to his movie in terms of smarts and story telling.

The movie is over 110 minutes long, but it didn't feel like it. Director Paul Greengrass is very efficient and economical in presenting the action sequences and is able to wrap up the loose ends the previous movies had presented. Matt Damon may not fit the action hero template but he is very believable and convincing as a spy/rogue agent.

From the crisp sound of the crashes to the realistic fight scenes, The Bourne Ultimatum is a highly recommended action thriller that may turn out the be the best action movie of the year.

Rating: 4.5/5
