Movie Review: Die Hard 4.0 (aka Live Free or Die Hard)

John McClane (Bruce Willis) is back and he's still proving terrorists he's one tough son of a bitch. His first adventure in the new millenium, it will take more than fighter jets, kung fu babes and high-powered weapons to put him down.

Die Hard 4.0 (the release name in the Philippines) is a throwback movie-- hard action, lone hero and "save the world from the baddies" premise. And that is the reason why the movie looks fresh and full of energy. They don't make movies like this anymore.

The story is as straightforward as an open road. A simple police escort mission for McClane turns into a country-wide techno-terror web of hacking, "fire sales," and public hysteria. Oh yeah, there are big explosions as well. The whole thing becomes personal to McClane when his daughter is kidnapped by the baddies.

The good reviews you may have read are all accurate. The action sequences as superb, the timely and contemporary story is good enough and the "Yippie-ka-yey" is back. You'd want to get box sets of the Die Hard trilogy after watching this movie.

Rating: 4/5
